China’s New Times Shipbuilding said it has delivered the first out of two LNG-powered LR2 tankers to Idan Ofer’s Eastern Pacific Shipping.
The shipbuilder delivered the 110,000-dwt dual-fuel crude oil tanker, Clearocean Emerald, to EPS during a video ceremony on February 15.
New Times Shipbuilding says this is the first such vessel built in China.
Both of the tankers are 249.9 meters long, 44 meters wide, and have a design draft of 13.5 meters.
The ABS-classed ships feature two LNG fuel tanks, each with a volume of 2,300 cubic meters, enabling them to sail in the gas mode about 16,000 nautical miles, according to New Times.
New Times said it would deliver the second ship, Clearocean Jade, in March.
VesselsValue data shows that both of the LNG-powered LR2 tankers will go on charter to Gunvor’s Clearlake Shipping.
Besides these ships, New Times is building LNG-powered bulk carriers for EPS but also for Tor Olav Trøim’s Himalaya Shipping.
