Nigeria LNG appoints new deputy managing director

Nigeria LNG, the operator of the 22 mtpa Bonny Island plant, said it has appointed Olalekan Olufemi Ogunleye as deputy managing director.

Ogunleye took over the role from deputy managing director Sadeeq Mai-Bornu, who was appointed by the NLNG board in April 2016.

Mai-Bornu will now return to his parent company, Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), at the expiration of his tenure, according to a statement on Thursday.

Ogunleye, who is concluding his tenure as managing director and CEO of Gas Aggregation Company Nigeria (GACN), will take over from Mai-Bornu on April 14, 2022.

Nigeria LNG is a venture compromising of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (49%), Shell (25.6%), TotalEnergies (15%) and Eni (10.4%).

Recently China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) revealed it had secured a contract related to the construction of Nigeria LNG’s seventh production unit at the Bonny Island plant.

The NLNG Train 7 project consists of the construction of one complete LNG train and one additional liquefaction unit. The project also includes other associated utilities and infrastructures.

The new unit will add around 8 mtpa of capacity to the 22 mtpa Bonny Island facility.
