India’s H-Energy says to launch Jaigarh FSRU terminal in “coming weeks”

Hoegh LNG’s FSRU has again arrived at H-Energy’s import facility in Jaigarh, India to start serving the delayed project.

The 170,000-cbm FSRU Hoegh Giant docked at the Jaigarh facility on March 1, according to a statement by H-Energy.

“With the berthing of the FSRU, it will now be gearing up towards commissioning it in the coming weeks,” the Darshan Hiranandani-led company said.

In April last year, H-Energy welcomed India’s first FSRU to serve its terminal for a period of 10 years with annual termination options after year five.

However, the start of the facility has been delayed for at least one year. Prior to arriving in India, the FSRU visited the UK, its AIS data shows.

H-Energy did not reveal the cause of the long delay in the statement.

Hoegh LNG and H-Energy signed the long-term charter deal for the FSRU in December 2020.

The FSRU has a regasification capacity of 750 million cubic feet per day or about 6 million tons per year.

It will deliver regasified LNG to the 56-km long Jaigarh-Dabhol natural gas pipeline, connecting the LNG terminal to the national gas grid.

Additionally, the facility has the capability of reloading LNG onto other vessels for LNG supply to other terminals as well as reloading onto small-scale LNG vessels for bunkering services, H-Energy said.

The facility would also be capable of delivering LNG through truck loading facilities in near future for onshore retail distribution, it said.
