Hyundai Samho awards new LNG tank job to GTT

French LNG containment giant GTT has secured a new order from South Korea’s Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries.

According to a statement on Monday, GTT will provide design and associated engineering services for the tanks of one 174,000-cbm LNG carrier.

Also, GTT said the vessel would feature its Mark III Flex membrane containment system

HSHI should deliver the vessel in the third quarter of 2024 to an unidentified owner.

GTT did not provide any additional information.

Two weeks ago, the Paris-based firm also revealed an order from the Korean shipbuilder for two LNG carriers.

This newest order could be related to an announcement by HSHI’s parent KSOE on February 21.

KSOE said then that HSHI would build one LNG carrier for about $217 million and deliver it by August 2024 to an unidentified Asian shipowner.

Brokers said that Hyundai Glovis had ordered this LNG carrier while Woodside would charter the vessel.
