Shell launches two Polish LNG stations

Energy giant Shell is continuing to invest in LNG as fuel for road transport in Europe and has opened two new filling stations in Poland.

Launched at the beginning of February, the LNG filling stations in Iłowa and Piotrków Trybunalski join two other Shell stations in Bielany Wrocławskie and Świecko, Shell’s unit in Poland said in a statement.

Both of the stations have a capacity of 70 cbm, enabling them to supply up to 150 LNG trucks a day.

Later this year, Shell will add three more stations in the country as it looks to meet the growing demand for the fuel in the country.

In total, Shell plans to build eleven LNG fueling stations in Poland.

Shell currently has at least 46 LNG stations in Europe, with the ambition to expand the European network to 80 locations by the end of 2022.

Besides Poland, Shell LNG stations are located in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, Portugal, and Turkey.

Also, Shell recently became the first in the Netherlands to offer bio-LNG to all of its customers, following the launch of Nordsol’s facility in Amsterdam Westpoort.

Shell started offering bio-LNG blended with “regular LNG” to all of its customers.

After gearing up production Shell plans to offer pure bio-LNG to its entire LNG network in the Netherlands within a few years.
