Idan Ofer’s Eastern Pacific Shipping has signed a shipbuilding deal with China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Weihai for two LNG-powered pure truck and car carriers
CMI Weihai said in a statement it has signed the deal with the Singapore-based firm on March 8.
EPS ordered two LNG dual-fuel 7,000 CEU PCTCs at the yard, boosting the total to six at CMI Weihai following the contract for four vessels, including two options, in August last year.
The shipping firm now exercised these options.
LNG Prime reported on this development, citing shipbrokers, in February.
These dual-fuel PCTCs have a length of 199.9 meters and a designed draft of 8.6 meters.
With a gross tonnage of 72,000, they have a designed speed of 19.5 knots and 12 cargo decks in total, according to CMI Weihai.
Also, these PCTCs would feature a high-pressure dual-fuel engine and two sets of 2000-cbm LNG storage tanks, it said.
The shipbuilder did not disclose the financial details of the deal.
VesselsValue data shows that EPS would pay about $87 million per ship and deliver them in 2025.
