South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Mipo has secured orders for four LNG-powered feeder containerships and one LPG carrier.
According to parent Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, these orders for five vessels have a price tag of 290 billion won ($235 million).
Hyundai Mipo will build the 22,000-cbm LPG carrier for an unidentified owner in Asia and deliver the 159.9 meters long vessel in the first half of 2024.
As per the LNG-powered feeder containerships, Hyundai Mipo will start delivering these 2,800-teu vessels sequentially from the second half of next year to an unidentified owner in Oceania.
These four vessels are worth about 225.1 billion won ($183 million).
The LNG-dual vessels will be 186 meters long and 35 meters wide.
KSOE did not provide any additional information.
The company and its units won orders for 59 ships worth about $6.37 billion this year.
The shipbuilder has set a target for this year of $17.4 billion, compared to $14.9 billion last year. It secured in total $22.8 billion worth of orders during 2021.
