First Calcasieu Pass LNG cargo lands at France’s Dunkrik terminal

The 174,000-cbm LNG carrier Yiannis has delivered the first cargo produced at Venture Global’s Calcasieu Pass plant in Louisiana to France’s Dunkirk LNG terminal.

According to shipping data by the Dunkirk port, the 2021-built LNG carrier Yiannis, owned by Greece’s Maran Gas and chartered by a unit of Japan’s Jera and EDF Trading, arrived at the facility on Wednesday.

Also, the vessel should depart from the LNG terminal operated by Dunqreque LNG on Thursday.

Dunkerque LNG owners include two groups with the first consortium led by Belgium’s Fluxys holding a 61 percent stake.

Commissioned in 2017, the LNG terminal has an annual regasification capacity of 13 billion cubic meters of natural gas.

Previous shareholders EDF and TotalEnergies are the main customers of the LNG terminal through 20-year contracts.

Three Calcasieu Pass LNG cargoes

Calcasieu Pass produced its first LNG on January 19 while the LNG carrier Yiannis arrived at the export facility in early February.

The vessel left the facility with the first commissioning cargo on March 1.

Following the first shipment, Venture Global LNG shipped the second cargo from its Calcasieu Pass plant in Louisiana to Europe as well.

The 2021-built, 174,000-cbm Vivirt City LNG, owned by H-Line and chartered by trader Vitol, left the Calcasieu Pass facility with the terminal’s second cargo on March 9.

According to the UK’s Milford Haven port, the vessel is expected to arrive at the South Hook LNG terminal on March 22.

In addition to these two shipments, LNG Prime recently reported on the third Calcasieu cargo as well.

However, the 2019-built, 180,000-cbm Nohshu Maru, owned by MOL and chartered by Jera Global Markets, has still not left the Calcasieu Pass terminal, its AIS data provided by VesselsValue shows.

The vessel signals Northwestern Europe as its final destination.
