Croatia’s Krk terminal receives new US LNG cargo

Croatia’s FSRU-based LNG import terminal on the northern Adriatic island of Krk is continuing to receive cargoes from US liquefaction terminals.

State-owned operator LNG Croatia said the 2003-built, 138,000-cbm Castillo de Villalba had arrived at the 140,000-cbm FSRU on Friday.

The LNG carrier owned by Naviera Elcano and chartered by Naturgy already left the facility. It brought the terminal’s sixth cargo for this year and the 25th shipment since the start of operations in January 2021.

Also, the FSRU-based LNG import terminal has received more than 3.5 million cubic meters of LNG since its launch.

LNG Croatia did not reveal the source of the newest shipment.

Castillo de Villalba previously loaded the cargo at Cheniere’s Corpus Christi LNG export terminal in the US, its AIS data provided by VesselsValue shows.

Prior to this shipment, the FSRU received a cargo from Cheniere’s Sabine Pass plant. In total, this marks the 17th US LNG cargo for the facility.

Croatia’s LNG terminal has the capacity to send up to 2.6 bcm per year of natural gas into the national grid.

MET, Hungary’s MFGK, and Qatar’s PowerGlobe have booked almost all of the volumes at the Krk facility for the next two years.
