Equinor to use Eidesvik’s LNG-powered PSV under new deal

Norwegian shipping firm Eidesvik Offshore has secured a contract from compatriot energy giant Equinor for its LNG-powered PSV Viking Prince.

Eidesvik said in a statement on Wednesday the firm period would last six months while the contract includes options for further extensions.

The dual-fueled, 2012-built PSV would start the new contract with Equinor in April/May, it said.

Eidesvik did not provide any additional information regarding the contract.

The LNG-powered vessel received a battery hybrid system and a shore power system in January this year.

Last year, Eidesvik won a charter contract with compatriot energy firm Aker BP for Viking Prince.

According to Eidesvik’s website, the offshore vessel owner has five LNG-powered PSVs in its fleet.
