GTT confirms Jiangnan tank gig for LNG carrier duo

France’s GTT confirmed it would design the tanks of two LNG carriers recently ordered at Chinese shipbuilder Jiangnan.

As part of this order received in March, GTT would provide the design and associated engineering services for the vessel’s tanks, which would each offer a capacity of 175,000 cbm, the firm said in a statement.

The tanks will feature GTT’s Mark III Flex membrane containment system.

GTT added that Jiangnan would deliver the LNG carriers in the first and second quarters of 2025, but it did not reveal any additional information.

LNG Prime first reported on this order on March 2, citing shipbuilding sources, while Jiangan confirmed the deal in a statement released last week.

The shipbuilder controlled by China State Shipbuilding Corporation won the contract from Adnoc Logistics & Services, a unit of UAE’s Adnoc.

Jiangnan said the dual-fuel carriers would also have a partial reliquefaction system.

This is the shipbuilder’s first order for large LNG carriers. It also marks China’s first order in the field of large LNG carriers for the international market, Jiangnan said.
