Uniper’s Liqvis launches new German LNG fueling station

Uniper’s Liqvis has added another LNG filling station to its growing network in Germany in order to cater to the increasing demand for the fuel in road transport.

The new LNG filling station is located in the southern German city of Ulm, according to a Liqvis statement on Wednesday.

Liqvis says this Ulm-Seligweiler station with two dispensers complements the firm’s growing LNG network in Germany but also in France.

It is co-financed by the Connecting Europe Facility of the EU and built in cooperation with Dutch cryogenic tech firm Cryonorm.

According to its website, Liqvis now has nine operational LNG filling stations in Germany and two in France. Prior to this facility, it launched a station in the central German city of Magdeburg.

The market for LNG as a truck fuel is growing rapidly in Germany as owners look to slash emissions but also a road tax exemption for such vehicles.

Earlier this year, Liqvis and Cryonorm signed a deal to build up to 16 new LNG filling stations.

The new contract “Mercury II” builds on the previous “Mercury I” EPC contract signed in 2018. This deal covered 16 LNG stations.
