EnerMech lands Ichthys LNG gig from Inpex

EnerMech said it has secured a five-year contract from a unit of Japan’s Inpex to work on the latter’s Ichthys LNG export project in Australia.

The Aberdeen-based integrated solutions specialist won the onshore and offshore inspection services, lifting equipment and crane maintenance contract from Inpex Operations Australia, according to a statement.

Starting in May, EnerMech said it would project manage and deliver campaigns consisting of the supply of lifting and rigging equipment, testing, certification and the provision of crane maintenance and technical support.

The firm did not provide the price tag of the deal.

This is the second direct contract with Inpex following a five-year deal in December 2020 to support Ichthys LNG Phase 2 through the supply of nitrogen and specialized pressure testing services, EnerMech said.

The Ichthys project shipped 117 LNG cargoes in 2021, down by five cargoes when compared to the year before.

Besides LNG cargoes, the 8.9 mtpa plant at Bladin Point exported 21 condensate cargoes and 32 LPG cargoes, down by one and two shipments respectfully. The project also shipped 32 offshore condensate cargoes, compared to 34 in 2020.

Natural gas arrives in Darwin from the giant Ichthys field offshore Western Australia via an 890-kilometer export pipeline.

Ichthys LNG is a joint venture between operator Inpex and major partner France’s TotalEnergies.

Other partners include Australian units of CPC Corporation Taiwan, Tokyo Gas, Osaka Gas, Kansai Electric Power, JERA and Toho Gas.
