GTT clinches HSHI tank gig for two LNG tankers

France’s GTT said it would design the tanks of two liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers recently ordered at South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries.

HSHI awarded the contract to GTT in March, according to a statement by the latter on Wednesday.

GTT said the vessels would feature its Mark III Flex membrane containment system.

Also, the shipbuilder would deliver the two 174,000-cbm LNG tankers to an European owner in the first half of 2025.

The Paris-based firm did not provide any additional information.

HSHI’s parent KSOE recently said that the yard would build two 174,000-cbm LNG carriers for an unidentified European shipowner and deliver them in the first half of 2025.

Thee deal has a price tag of about $450 million.

Brokers reported after this announcement that Norway’s Knutsen and Poland’s dominant gas firm and LNG importer, PGNiG, were behind this order.

The Polish firm also confirmed the new charter deal with Knutsen in a statement released earlier this month.

PGNiG has previously signed charter deals with Knutsen for a total of four LNG carriers to ship its contracted volumes from the US.
