GTT books new LNG tank order from Samsung Heavy

French LNG containment giant GTT said it has won a new order from South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries.

According to a statement on Tuesday, GTT will design tanks for one 180,000-cbm LNG vessel.

GTT said the vessel would feature its Mark III Flex containment system.

The Paris-based firm did not provide any additional information regarding the order.

This contract is probably related to an announcement by Samsung Heavy earlier this month.

Under that order, the Korean shipbuilder said it would build one LNG carrier for about $217 million and deliver the vessel by October 2025.

Denmark’s Celsius Shipping ordered this vessel at Samsung Heavy, boosting the orderbook to nine 180,000-cbm carriers at the Korean yard.

In December, Celsius Tankers, a unit of Celsius Shipping, and partners also ordered two vessels at Samsung Heavy.

The shipbuilder already delivered four 180,000-cbm LNG tankers to Celsius Shipping.
