Thenamaris takes delivery of LNG newbuild

Greece’s Thenamaris has welcomed a brand new liquefied natural gas carrier, boosting its fleet to a total of four LNG vessels.

The 174,000-cbm Cool Discoverer departed Hyundai Heavy’s Ulsan yard in South Korea on September 23. The vessel was on Thursday heading towards the US West Coast, its AIS data shows.

Thenamaris ordered the dual-fuel vessel at the Korean yard back in June 2018. In October the same year, the Greek firm tasked Hyundai to build a sister ship.

This LNG carrier named Cool Racer will join the Thenamaris fleet in February next year.

Both of the newbuilds feature GTT’s Mark III Flex containment system and two WinGD XDF engines.

Besides these vessels, Thenamaris owns three 160,000-cbm TFDE carriers delivered in 2013, 2014, and 2015.
