Hyundai Samho awards another LNG tank job to GTT

South Korea’s Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries has contracted France’s GTT to design tanks for another LNG carrier.

According to a statement on Thursday, GTT will provide design and associated engineering services for the tanks of one 174,000-cbm LNG carrier. The firm secured the order in April.

Also, GTT said the vessel would feature its Mark III Flex membrane containment system.

HSHI is expected to deliver the vessel in the fourth quarter of 2025 to an European owner.

GTT did not provide any additional information.

This order is almost identical to the one GTT revealed on May 11. The only difference is that in the prior order GTT said that HSHI would build the vessel for an Asian owner.

HSHI’s parent KSOE announced two orders for single LNG carriers in April.

The announcement on April 26 is tied to Japan’s NYK and its French joint venture with Geogas. This vessel will go on charter to EDF.

As per KSOE’s announcement on April 21, this contract is tied to Norway’s Knutsen and could be related to this GTT’s newest announcement.
