Flex takes delivery of 10th LNG carrier

Norwegian firm Flex LNG has added another vessel to its fleet boosting the total number of ships in operation to ten.

South Korea’s Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries delivered the 174,000-cbm Flex Amber on October 13.

Flex Amber features WinGD’s XD-F dual-fuel propulsion and GTT’s Mark III containment system. It also has a reliquefaction system with a boil-off rate of 0.085% per day.

The newbuild is the sister vessel of Flex Aurora delivered in July this year. It has also the same features as Flex Volunteer and Flex Vigilant that are still under construction.

To remind, the firm controlled by billionaire John Fredriksen said earlier this year it secured a short-term variable time charter for the newbuild without providing further details.

This represents the fourth newbuild delivery for Flex in four months.

Additionally, three new ships will join the Flex fleet next year for a total of 13 vessels.
