Inpex says Ichthys plant ships 300th LNG cargo

Japan’s Inpex said it has shipped the 300th LNG cargo from its Ichthys liquefied natural gas export project in Australia since start-up in 2018.

This milestone comes just a month after the 8.9 mtpa LNG plant at Bladin Point near Darwin shipped its 200th cargo.

The 165,000-cbm Energy Glory departed Darwin Harbour on October 13 carrying the milestone shipment to Japan, its AIS data shows.

Japan’s Tokyo Gas, that is a partner in the Ichthys project, owns the TFDE vessel as part of a joint venture with compatriot NYK Line.

Besides LNG, the Ichthys facility also ships LPG and condensate.

Natural gas arrives in Darwin from the giant Ichthys field offshore Western Australia via an 890-kilometre export pipeline.

Ichthys is a joint venture between operator Inpex and major partner France’s Total. Other partners include Australian units of CPC Corporation Taiwan, Tokyo Gas, Osaka Gas, Kansai Electric Power, JERA and Toho Gas.
