HAM says to build Chile’s first LNG station

A unit of Spain’s HAM Group has secured a contract from Lipigas for the construction and commissioning of what it says is Chile’s first LNG filling station.

Lipigas is a player in the energy market in Latin America, with a presence in Chile, Colombia and Peru.

The new station will be located at the facilities of Transportes San Gabriel, Linares in Maule Region, according to HAM.

Furthermore, this location is very close to the Ruta Cinco Sur, the Pan-American Highway in Chile. The highway is the country’s main land communication artery.

HAM says the station will allow the supply of LNG to 30 trucks from Cervecera AB InBev Chile. These vehicles will join the transport fleet of Transportes San Gabriel.

Besides slashing emissions, the vehicles will allow fuel savings of over 20% compared to other “less environmentally friendly fuels”, HAM said.
