Fluxys says Zeebrugge LNG truck loading capacity sold out until 2024

Belgium’s Fluxys said that firms have now booked all the truck loading slots for this year and the next year at its LNG import facility located in the port of Zeebrugge.

Last month Fluxys reported that were no more truck loading capacities available for 2022.

In a release on Tuesday, Fluxys said the “8000 available slots for 2022 and 2023 are now fully sold out”.

The Zeebrugge LNG import terminal currently has two truck bays with a capacity of about 8,000 slots per year.

Last year Fluxys decided to build four additional bays due to the sharp increase in demand for LNG as fuel for trucks and ships. It also started offering bio-LNG services at the plant.

The LNG terminal operator said on Tuesday it plans to launch these new bays in 2023-2024, tripling the capacity to 24,000 loading slots.

Fluxys also said that interested parties can already book slots for 2024 on a “first-committed-first-served” basis by submitting a signed service request form.

The firm revealed earlier his year that the Zeebrugge LNG terminal logged a record number of ship operations and truck loading operations in 2021.

Moreover, the LNG facility conducted 181 ship operations and 6,635 truck loading operations during the last year.

The Zeebrugge terminal currently consists of five tanks with a storage capacity of 566,000 cbm and a regasification capacity of about 6.6 mtpa.

However, Fluxys is expanding the facility to almost double the regasification capacity.
