Nakilat, Shell continue with LNG fleet transition

Qatari LNG shipper Nakilat has taken full control of another vessel from Shell’s trading and shipping unit wrapping up the second phase of its fleet management transition.

The latest vessel to come under the management of Nakilat Shipping Qatar is the Q-Max 263,300-cbm Lijmiliya.

Nakilat’s unit assumed full ship management and operations of the vessel on October 27.

Worth mentioning here, South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering delivered the vessel back in January 2009.

The Nakilat-owned 345 meters long vessel serves under a long-term charter contract with Qatari LNG producer Qatargas.

Lijmiliya is the seventh vessel and final vessel that comes under the management of NSQL this year.

With the new addition, the total number of vessels managed by the Nakilat unit increased to 25, comprising of 21 LNG and four LPG carriers.

Nakilat’s total fleet stands at 74 vessels, including one FSRU and three LNG newbuilds scheduled for delivery by end-2021.
