TGE Marine scores LNG PCTC gig

Bonn-based TGE Marine Gas Engineering said it would supply eight fuel gas systems and associated multi-fuel gas tanks for the LNG-powered PCTCs Hoegh Autoliners ordered in China.

Oslo-based Hoegh Autoliners ordered in total eight firm LNG multi-fuel Aurora class vessels with the capacity to carry up to 9,100 cars at China Merchants Heavy Industry in Jiangsu.

In addition, Hoegh Autoliners has also eight optional ships on order.

TGE Marine, a part of Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding, said in a social media post it won the contract from the Chinese shipbuilding group.

The firm says its multi-fuel gas tanks would be capable of receiving LNG, ammonia, and methanol.

Also, TGE Marine’s fuel gas system comes with an “innovative concept for handling the boil-off gas, ensuring safe operations in all circumstances in unison with minimal OPEX costs and vastly reduced fugitive emissions,” it said.

TGE Marine expects the gas trial for the first vessel to take place at the end of 2024.

The firm did not provide the price tag of the deal.
