Spain-based engineering group Sener said Tuesday it secured a contract from the Dutch Gate LNG terminal in Rotterdam.
Gate has contracted Sener to provide the engineering, procurement and construction management services needed for maintenance and improvement activities. These will take place at the Dutch LNG hub next year.
Under the contract, Sener said it would optimize the design to achieve more efficient operation and maintenance.
Those modifications will improve the processes and optimize the times, as well as ensure the plant’s uninterrupted operation over the next decade, the Spanish firm said.
Sener did not reveal the value of the deal.
Additionally, the contract marks the continuation of the cooperation between the duo. Sener was part of the consortium that delivered the facility back in 2011.
Gate, owned by Vopak and Gasunie, is one of Europe’s largest LNG terminals.
The facility features three 180,000-cbm storage tanks and has an annual regasification capacity of 12 Bcm.
Launched as an LNG import facility, the terminal has over the years become a true hub offering a variety of services including small-scale and trucking.
