GTT clinches new LNG tank job from Hyundai Heavy

French LNG containment giant GTT said it has won a new order from South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries to design tanks for eight LNG carriers.

According to a GTT statement, the 174,000-cbm LNG carriers would feature its Mark III Flex membrane containment system.

GTT added that HHI plans to deliver the vessels between the third quarter of 2025 and the fourth quarter of 2026, but it did not provide any additional information.

This order is probably related to an announcement by HHI’s parent KSOE issued on July 7.

KSOE said that HHI would build eight 174,000-cbm LNG carriers for an owner in Europe and deliver them by November 2026.

Each of the LNG carriers has a price tag of about $214 million.

This order is tied to the giant shipbuilding program by QatarEnergy and the owner is Norway’s Knutsen.
