Norwegian shipping firm Flex LNG will soon add another vessel following the completion of its sea and gas trials.

Following delivery at South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, the 173,000-cbm Flex Freedom will become the shipping firm’s 11th carrier in operation.

Flex Freedom features MAN’s high pressure two-stroke slow-speed propulsion system (ME-GI) and GTT’s NO96 containment system. It also has a full reliquefaction system with a boil-off rate of 0.035% per day.

The vessel is one of the three remaining unfixed newbuildings besides Flex Volunteer and Flex Vigilance.

This will be the fifth newbuild delivery for Flex since July this year. The firm took delivery of Flex Aurora in July, followed by Flex Artemis in August, and Flex Resolute last month.

The most recent delivery, Flex Amber, joined the fleet on October 14.

Additionally, another two LNG newbuilds will join the Flex fleet by the second quarter of 2021 for a total of thirteen carriers.
