BW names LNG newbuild duo in South Korea

BW LNG, a unit of Singapore-based gas giant BW, has named two newbuild LNG carriers which will go on charter to UK-based energy giant BP and Chinese independent gas distributor ENN.

South Korean shipbuilder DSME held the naming ceremony for the two Singapore-flagged vessels on August 10, BW LNG said in a social media post.

Both ships have a carrying capacity of 174,000 cbm and are equipped with ME-GI propulsion and a full reliquefaction system.

They will go straight into long-term charters with BP and ENN.

ENN will use BW ENN Snow Lotus (h2509), while BW Cassia (h2510) will serve BP.

BW LNG recently said that it had joined forces with DSME and Hi Air Korea to test newly developed carbon capture and storage (CCS) plant onboard the newbuild BW Cassia.

The partners tested the CCS plant during the vessel’s sea and gas trials.
