Saipem bags $900 million Angola job

Italian contractor Saipem has secured three contracts from the New Gas Consortium for the Quiluma and Maboqueiro gas project, which will feed the Angola LNG export plant in Soyo.

The New Gas Consortium consists of Eni’s and BP’s Azule Energy, Sonangol P&P, Chevron, and TotalEnergies.

Last month, the partners took a final investment decision on the Quiluma and Maboqueiro gas project.

According to the firms, this is Angola’s first non-associated gas development project.

Saipem said on Thursday the new contracts, one onshore and two offshore, include the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) activities relevant to the Quiluma and Maboqueiro fields development project off the northwest coast of Angola.

With an overall value of around $900 million, Saipem is taking care of the hook-up and commissioning assistance of the Quiluma platform and of the relevant onshore natural gas processing plant, it said.
