SunRui scores FGSS order for Singfar’s LNG-powered vessels

China’s SunRui Marine Environment Engineering has won a contract from compatriot Lianyungang Shenghua Shipbuilding to supply fuel gas supply systems for five LNG dual-fuel bunkering ships ordered by Singapore-based shipping firm Singfar International.

The order includes five firm 7380-dwt dual-fuel refueling vessels with delivery in 2023 but also five optional ships.

SunRui said in a statement it has signed the contract with Shenghua, in the presence of officials from Singfar and RINA, on August 9.

The firm did not provide the price tag of the deal.

Following delivery, the vessels will work in the Singapore waters.

According to Singfar’s website, the firm signed a memorandum of understanding with the Chinese yard in April last year for the development of up to ten LNG-powered bunkering vessels.

Orders for LNG-powered vessels hit a record high in the second quarter of this year.

Owners placed orders for record 83 LNG-powered vessels in the April-June period, according to DNV’s Alternative Fuels Insight platform.

The platform shows that 313 LNG-powered ships are already in operation, while there are 503 LNG-fueled vessels on order.
