Erik Nyheim takes over as CEO of Hoegh LNG

Erik Nyheim has taken over as president and chief executive officer of floating LNG player Hoegh LNG.

Hoegh announced this in a short social media post on Monday saying Nyheim joins at a “very exciting time” for the company.

In May, Hoegh revealed the appointment of Nyheim to the CEO position.

He comes comes from the position as partner of Boston Consulting Group’s Norwegian office where he has led their maritime practice since 2019.

Prior to this, he worked for more than 15 years with the Wilhelmsen group.

To remind, Sveinung Stohle left the floating LNG player last year after 15 years at the helm.

Thor Jorgen Guttormsen replaced Stohle as interim CEO of the firm owned by Leif Hoegh and funds managed by US-based Morgan Stanley Infrastructure.

Hoegh has been quite busy this year. The firm chartered two FSRUs for German operations and confirmed the FSRU charter deal with Australian Industrial Energy.

In addition, Hoegh is expecting to complete the purchase all publicly held common units of New York-listed Hoegh LNG Partners this year.

HMLP recently said it has established a record date of August 22 for a special meeting of its unitholders currently planned to take place on September 20.

At the special meeting, the holders of the partnership’s common units will vote on the proposed merger.
