Pasha Hawaii’s LNG-fueled containership makes maiden call at Port of Long Beach

US shipping firm Pasha Hawaii said that its LNG-powered containership, George III, has visited the Port of Long Beach in California for the first time following its recent delivery at Keppel AmFELS.

The 235 meters long vessel is the first to fuel on the US West Coast and the first to serve Hawaii, according to the Hawaii-based shipping firm and a unit of the family-owned Pasha Group.

George III arrived in the Port of Long Beach on Wednesday and will soon start its maiden voyage to Honolulu, Hawaii.

This is the first out of two LNG-powered Ohana Class containerships and they will both serve the Hawaii/Mainland trade lane.

George III and Janet Marie have a capacity to carry 2,525 units.

US LNG supplier Clean Energy Fuels joined forces with World Fuel Services to supply liquefied natural gas for the two container vessels.

The firm will provide LNG to the vessels from its plant in Boron, California.
