Malaysian LNG shipping firm MISC said it has won an approval by Bureau Veritas for a FSRU conversion solution.
MISC said the design approval in principle is for conversions based on its Puteri and Puteri Satu Class LNG carriers.
Additionally, Eaglestar Marine Holdings, an integrated marine services arm of MISC, managed the entire certification process.
MISC is one of the world’s largest LNG shipping firms but currently does not operate any FSRUs.
The Malaysian shipping firm owned by Petronas has a fleet of 29 LNG carriers and two floating storage units.
“MISC aspires to tap into the growing FSRU market with innovative ideas to diversify into non-conventional LNG asset-based solutions,” it said.
