EPS takes delivery of second LNG-fueled Suezmax

Idan Ofer’s Eastern Pacific Shipping has taken delivery of the second LNG-powered Suezmax tanker from China’s Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI).

GSI handed over the 158,000-dwt Starway to EPS on Friday, according to a statement.

With this, GSI completed the project which included the construction of two LNG-powered Suezmax vessels.

EPS and the Chinese yard claim that its sister vessel Greenway, which was delivered in June, is the world’s first LNG-powered Suezmax tanker.

In July, Greenway completed its first LNG bunkering operation in Malaysia.

India’s Reliance Industries chartered the vessel for its maiden voyage to carry a cargo of ultra low sulphur diesel.

Classed by ABS, both of the vessels are about 274 meters long and 48 meters wide, and feature MAN ME-GI engines and two type C LNG tanks.

EPS placed this order at GSI in December 2019 for about $72 million per ship, according to VesselsValue.
