ECONNECT bags FLNG gig from New Fortress

Norway-based ECONNECT Energy will deliver two of its LNG transfer units to US LNG player New Fortress Energy for the latter’s floating LNG producers in the Gulf of Mexico.

Wes Edens-led NFE plans to install up to eight floating liquefaction facilities each with a capacity of about 1.4 mtpa in the US Gulf of Mexico using its “Fast LNG” liquefaction design that incorporates modular, midsize liquefaction technology with jack up rigs or similar offshore infrastructure.

According to a statement, ECONNECT is currently fabricating two jettyless IQuay units to deliver to NFE’s “Fast LNG” projects.

ECONNECT will provide the offshore transfer solutions for LNG and gas transfer between NFE’s offshore production and storage units.

The jettyless scope would accelerate consumer access to natural gas, it said.

ECONNECT did not provide the price tag of the deal.

Morten Christophersen, CEO of ECONNECT, welcomed the partnership with NFE for its LNG projects, “advancing energy security for Europe and accelerating the global transition into cleaner energy.”

“Our IQuay allows for gas and LNG transfer operations in extreme weather conditions with rapid deployment, consistent with NFE’s innovative approach to energy infrastructure development,” he said.
