Italian classification society RINA has won a contract for the classification of two LNG dual-fuel bunker vessels ordered by Singapore-based shipping firm Singfar International in China.
Lianyungang Shenghua Shipbuilding is building these two vessels.
Under the contract awarded on June 23, the bunker tankers would get the RINA gas fueled notation upon their deliveries in 2023 and 2024, respectively, according to a statement by the classification society.
The tankers will comply with the Singapore Maritime and Port Authority’s (MPA) latest requirements for bunker tankers.
Also, RINA said the ships would be equipped with DF capabilities for both main and auxiliary systems, and would feature other power saving devices and improved hull forms.
Back in April last year Singfar entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Chinese shipbuilder for the joint development and construction of a series of 7,000 dwt bunker tankers.
The MoU signed oversees Lianyungang Shenghua building five LNG-fueled bunker tankers, together with an option for five more sister ships, for Singfar.
China’s SunRui Marine Environment Engineering recently said it had won a contract from compatriot Lianyungang Shenghua to supply fuel gas supply systems for the five ships.
Fratelli Cosulich LNG bunkering vessel
RINA said in a separate statement it would class the first out of two LNG bunkering vessels ordered by Fratelli Cosulich in China.
As previously reported by LNG Prime, China’s Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering (CIMC SOE) held a keel-laying ceremony for the 8,200-cbm vessel with a working name S1058 on August 1.
Fratelli Cosulich placed the order for this 5,300-dwt dual-fueled vessel at CIMC SOE in May last year.
The 113 meters long ship will feature a cargo handling system by Wartsila and a Schottel propulsion system.
