Croatia’s Krk FSRU terminal gets another US LNG cargo

US liquefied natural gas supplies keep coming to the FSRU-based Krk import facility in Croatia on the back of high LNG demand in Europe.

State-owned terminal operator LNG Croatia said in a short statement on September 30 it had received the 43rd LNG cargo at the import facility located in the northern Adriatic Sea since the launch of operations in January last year.

According to LNG Croatia, the 174,000-cbm Orion Sea delivered the newest shipment to the 140,000-cbm FSRU.

The 2022-built LNG carrier, owned by Global Meridian Holdings, part of J.P. Morgan Asset Management, previously picked up the cargo at Cheniere’s Corpus Christi plant in Texas, its AIS data provided by VesselsValue shows.

Croatia’s FSRU mostly gets supplies from the US, but prior to this shipment it received a reloaded small-scale cargo from Spain.

Besides Croatia, the FSRU supplies Hungary, Slovakia, and other European countries.

Due to high demand, Croatia recently decided to further increase the capacity of its FSRU-based LNG import terminal.

The capacity of the terminal will rise to 6.1 bcm and the expansion project will cost about 180 million euros ($176.4 million) and includes the construction of a new pipeline from Zlobin to Bosiljevo.
