Hyundai Samho to build one LNG carrier for about $247 million

Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries continues to win orders for LNG carriers and has secured a contract to build a single vessel, according to its parent Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering.

KSOE said on Wednesday that the deal has a price tag of 346.8 billion won or about $247 million, which is a very high price.

Hyundai Samho will deliver the LNG carrier by January 2026 to an unidentified shipowner based in Oceania.

KSOE did not reveal any additional information.

In June, Hyundai Samho won an order for two 174,000-cbm LNG carriers from Evangelos Marinakis-led Capital Gas for delivery in January and March 2026.

During the same month, the shipbuilder secured a contract to build two LNG carriers for Greece’s TMS Cardiff Gas for delivery by August 2026.

According to sources, it appears that TMS Cardiff Gas also placed the order for this single LNG carrier.

Besides these LNG carriers, Hyundai Samho recently also won a contract for two LNG-powered car carriers tied to Ray Car Carriers, boosting the total to four vessels.
