GTT joins forces with another Chinese yard

French LNG containment giant GTT is continuing to expand its business in China and has signed a technical service agreement with Zhoushan Xinya Shipyard.

This deal would enable Zhoushan Xinya, a well-known private ship repair enterprise, for LNG ship repair qualification using GTT membrane technologies, according to a statement by GTT released on Monday.

Xia Songkang, CEO of Xinya Shipyard, Fon He, VP of Xinya Shipyard, Wang Junting, VP of Xinya Shipyard, Adnan Ezzarhouni, head of GTT China, Wei Wei, business development manager of GTT China, and others attended the signing ceremony.

Both parties would cooperate on various LNG projects, thus pushing the cooperation into a new stage of development, GTT said.

The agreement would expand the service scope of Zhoushan Xinya to shipowners with more specifications and types of LNG ship repair solutions, and better meet the growing demand for green ship repair in the future, GTT said.

This agreement follows a technical assistance and license deal GTT signed with China Merchants Heavy Industries in Jiangsu (CMHI Jiangsu), enabling the yard to construct LNG vessels using GTT membrane technologies.

Prior to this, GTT also signed a similar deal with China’s largest private shipyard, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding.
