Norway’s Eidesvik Offshore has secured a contract extension from German oil and gas company Wintershall Dea for one of its LNG-powered PSVs.
The dual-fueled 2013-built Viking Princess would start the new charter contract with Wintershall Dea in January next year, in direct continuation of the current contract, according to a statement by Eidesvik.
Eidesvik said the new contract would last until July 2023.
Wintershall Dea declared an option from the previous charter contract that started in January this year.
Eidesvik did not provide any additional information regarding the charter.
The LNG-powered Viking Princess was the world’s first offshore vessel with a battery hybrid energy storage solution replacing a traditional generator, Eidesvik claims.
In November last year, the 90 meters long vessel also received a shore power system, it said.
Wintershall Dea previously said that the vessel supports its effort to reduce emissions from its activities on the Norwegian Continental shelf.
