Baker Hughes has selected GE’s high-voltage equipment and an energy management system to support the first phase of Venture Global LNG’s Plaquemines LNG export plant in Louisiana.
GE’s Grid Solutions and Power Conversion businesses won the contracts, according to a GE statement.
The company’s technology will power the overall liquefaction system Baker Hughes is providing for the Plaquemines export facility, Venture Global’s second project.
GE’s Grid Solutions contracts includes the design, engineering, delivery, and commissioning of 145 kV gas-insulated switchgear (GIS), integrated protection and control systems, as well as high-voltage power transformers for the Plaquemines facility.
Also, GE Power Conversion will supply the hot redundant energy management system, as PQ 1 (25 000 IOs) & 2-A (15 000 IOs), interconnected to guarantee the plant’s electrical resilience.
The combined high-voltage equipment and EMS would allow the power generated at each plant to be distributed with accuracy and reliability to the load centers at each step in the gas liquefaction process, GE said.
GE did not provide the price tag of the deal.
The company’s Grid Solutions and Power Conversion businesses received their first contract in 2019 from Baker Hughes for the supply of high-voltage equipment, systems and EMS for Calcasieu Pass, Venture Global’s first LNG facility.
US LNG exporter Venture Global announced May a final investment decision for the 13.33 mtpa Plaquemines project and the related pipeline after it secured $13.2 billion in project financing.
Plaquemines LNG phase one customers include PGNiG, Sinopec, CNOOC, Shell, and EDF.
