Bonn-based TGE Marine Gas Engineering said it would provide equipment for one LNG bunkering vessel China’s energy giant CNOOC ordered at Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering.
CNOOC and CIMC SOE signed a contract worth about $69 million for this 12,000-cbm LNG bunkering vessel in December last year.
TGE Marine would design and supply the cargo handling- and fuel gas system for the vessel, it said on Tuesday.
The bunker vessel would supply LNG fuel to any LNG-powered vessel in Chinese waters and it would be equipped with two IMO type C cylindrical tanks with a design pressure of 4.5 bar g, the firm said.
It will also feature an LNG sub-cooling system in order to condition the cargo to -163 Celsius.
Furthermore the vessel would be equipped with a cold recovery system to utilize the low temperature of the cargo for the ship’s air conditioning system, thereby reducing the overall power consumption, TGE Marine said.
TGE Marine did not provide the price tag of the contract.
CNOOC’s and TGE Marine’s collaboration started in 2015 when the latter designed and supplied the cargo handling- and fuel gas system for another CNOOC vessel.
The vessel in question is the 30,000-cbm LNG carrier “Hai Yang Shi You 301”, the world’s largest LNG carrier with IMO type C tanks at that time.
