Excelerate names new chief operating officer

US FSRU player Excelerate Energy has appointed David Liner as its new chief operating officer, succeeding current COO Calvin Bancroft.

Bancroft would resign from his position as executive VP and COO on December 31, 2022, according to a statement by Excelerate.

He would continue his employment with the company as a senior advisor reporting to CEO Steven Kobos through September 30, 2023, at which point he is expected to retire.

Consistent with the company’s succession plan, David Liner, who currently serves as VP of operations, would succeed Bancroft in the role of executive VP and COO as of January 1, 2023, the firm said.

Liner joined Excelerate in August of 2021 with over 25 years of maritime experience in the oil and gas industry.

As VP of operations, he has led the operations and maintenance team responsible for the company’s fleet of vessels and terminals.

Prior to joining Excelerate, he held a variety of roles with SeaRiver Maritime and ExxonMobil Development Company.

Also, he served as the chief officer of commercial and planning at Qatari LNG shipping giant Nakilat.

Excelerate recently ordered one 170,000-cbm FSRU in South Korea and will pay about $332 million for the unit.

With this newbuild order, Excelerate will have 11 FSRUs in operation or under construction.
