Australian LNG export revenue hits new record in October

Australian liquefied natural gas (LNG) export revenue rose 82 percent year-on-year in October to a new record high, according to EnergyQuest.

The consultancy said in its monthly report it estimates that Australian LNG export revenue reached A$10.6 billion ($7.2 billion), up from record A$10.2 billion in September.

Western Australian projects earned export revenue of A$6.4 billion, Queensland projects A$2.9 billion, and Northern Territory projects A$1.3 billion, it said.

Moreover, Australian projects shipped over 7 million tonnes again in October, shipping 7.13 million tonnes or 104 cargoes, down marginally on 7.21 Mt or 104 cargoes in September, EnergyQuest said.

In October last year, Australian projects shipped 7.23 Mt or 105 cargoes.

Three more LNG cargoes to North Asia

Compared with September, Australian projects delivered three more LNG cargoes to North Asia (China, Korea and Japan) in October, the consultancy said.

There were no cargoes delivered to Europe, it said.

West Coast shipments remained steady at 5.2 Mt in October compared to 5.2 Mt in September, with 75 cargoes in October compared to 74 in September.

Also, East Coast shipments remained steady at 2 Mt in October compared to 2 Mt in September, with 29 cargoes compared to 30 in September, EnergyQuest said.
