SWS hands over fourth LNG-powered tanker to Bocomm Leasing

China’s Bank of Communications Financial Leasing Co (Bocomm Leasing) has taken delivery of another LNG-powered tanker that will serve a unit of LNG giant Shell.

CSSC’s Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS) delivered the 109,000-dwt crude oil tanker, Proteus Stephanie, on November 16, it said in a statement.

This is the fourth and final LNG-powered Aframax tankers SWS built for Bocomm Leasing as part of this order.

Prior to this vessel, the shipbuilder delivered Proteus Rebecca.

The ships are 249.95 meters long, 44 meters wide, and feature two Type C LNG fuel tanks as well as WinGD dual-fuel main engine, according to SWS.

Norway’s Hoglund won a contract last year to supply the fuel gas supply systems for these four ships.

Bocomm Leasing ordered twelve dual-fuel tankers in April 2020 at two CSSC yards for about $54 million per each vessel. All of these vessels will serve Shell.

Besides these four ships, CSSC’s Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) is building the eight other tankers.

Gloryholder Liquefied Gas Machinery (LGM Engineering) won a contract to supply LNG fuel systems for these vessels.
