Uniper’s Liqvis expands LNG fueling station network in Germany

Uniper’s unit Liqvis has launched its twelfth LNG fueling station in Germany to cater to the increasing demand for the fuel in road transport.

The new LNG filling station is located near Alsfeld and directly on the A5 motorway north-east of Frankfurt, according to a Liqvis statement.

This station with two dispensers complements the firm’s growing LNG network in Germany but also in France.

It was built in cooperation with Dutch cryogenic tech firm Cryonorm.

Earlier this year, Liqvis and Cryonorm signed a deal to build up to 16 new LNG filling stations.

According to its website, Liqvis has twelve operational LNG filling stations in Germany and two in France. Prior to this facility, it launched a station near Salzbergen.

The market for LNG as a truck fuel is growing in Germany and is the largest in Europe, as owners look to slash emissions but also a road tax exemption for such vehicles.

According to NGVA Europe data, Germany has 152 LNG filing stations while Italy has 129 such stations. Europe in total hosts 609 LNG stations for trucks.
