French LNG containment giant GTT has won an order to design tanks for one LNG carrier Greece-based shipping firm TMS Cardiff Gas ordered at South Korea’s Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries.
According to a GTT statement, the company won this order in the fourth quarter of 2022.
The 174,000-cbm LNG carrier will feature GTT’s Mark III Flex membrane containment system.
GTT said that HSHI plans to deliver the vessel to TMS Cardiff Gas in the first quarter of 2026.
Besides this order, Hyundai Heavy contracted GTT to design tanks of two new very large ethane carriers (VLECs) for Japanese shipowner IINO LINES.
The 98,000-cbm vessels will also feature GTT’s Mark III Flex membrane containment system and are scheduled for delivery during the fourth quarter of 2025.
As per the LNG carrier, HSHI’s parent KSOE revealed this order in October saying that the deal had a price tag of 346.8 billion won or about $247 million.
KSOE only said that Hyundai Samho plans to deliver the LNG carrier by January 2026 to an unidentified shipowner based in Oceania but shipbuilding sources told LNG Prime that TMS Cardiff Gas was behind the order.
In July last year, the Korean shipbuilder also secured a contract to build two LNG carriers for TMS Cardiff Gas with delivery scheduled by August 2026.
