UK was top destination for US LNG supplies in November

The UK was the top destination for US LNG exports in November as Europe continues to receive most of the volumes produced at US liquefaction terminals.

According to the Department of Energy’s newest LNG monthly report, US terminals have sent 82.8 Bcf of LNG to the UK in November, followed by France (50.7 Bcf), Turkey (31.4 Bcf), Japan (24.4 Bcf), and the Netherlands (20.6 Bcf).

These five countries took 69.3 percent of total US LNG exports in November.

France was the top destination for US LNG exports in October and September while the Netherlands took on this role in August.

Prior to August, France was also the top destination for five straight months.

US LNG exports dropped by 1.2 percent

The US has exported in total 302.3 Bcf of LNG in November, down by 2.3 percent compared to the prior month but also down by 1.2 percent compared to November 2021, the DOE report shows.

US terminals shipped 94 LNG cargoes in November compared to 96 in October and 99 in November 2021, according to the report.

Cheniere’s Sabine Pass plant sent 35 cargoes while its Corpus Christi terminal shipped 16 cargoes in November.

In addition, Cameron dispatched 33 shipments, Cove Point sent six shipments, and Elba Island sent two shipments.

Freeport LNG remained shut in November due to an incident at the facility that took place on June 8.

4145 LNG cargoes

According to DOE’s report, the weighted average price by export terminal reached 11.27/MMBtu in November.

Moreover, the report said that in the period from February 2016 through November 2022, the US has exported 4145 cargoes or 13,260.3 Bcf to 43 countries.

South Korea remains the top destination for US LNG with 487 cargoes, followed by Japan with 354 cargoes, Spain with 322 cargoes, and China with 287 cargoes. US terminals also sent 287 LNG cargoes to France but the volumes are slightly lower.

Besides these five countries, the UK, the Netherlands, India, Brazil, and Turkey, are in the top ten as well.
