Chevron and Santos are planning to perform maintenance works during April-July at their two LNG export plants in Australia.
According to a notice posted on Chevron Australia’s website, the firm plans maintenance at its giant Gorgon plant in Western Australia during April 22-May 28, 2023.
During the maintenance activities, Chevron’s unit aims to shut more than half of one train, but no more than a full train, it said.
The Gorgon LNG plant on Barrow Island has three trains and a production capacity of some 15.5 mtpa.
Chevron produced a record number of LNG cargoes in the third quarter last year, mosty from mostly from its Gorgon and Wheatstone plants in Western Australia.
The firm expected “strong” operational performance last year at its Gorgon LNG facility, following several train shutdowns during the previous two years.
The Gorgon plant underwent shutdowns and servicing of all three LNG trains and most associated facilities between late 2019 and mid-2021, Chevron said.
GLNG maintenance
Besides the Gorgon LNG plant, Australian LNG player Santos aims to perform maintenance works at its GLNG plant in Queensland during June and July.
According to a maintenance notice posted on he Australian Energy Market Operator’s (AEMO) website, Santos aims to shut less than a half of a train for maintenance during June 5-8, 2023.
Also, the operator of the LNG plant on Curtis Island off Gladstone plans to close less than half of a train during July 6-13, 2023.
“These dates amend and replace the dates previously published on the bulletin board for the second outage only (July 3-10, 2023). The first outage dates have not been amended,” the notice said.
The GLNG plant has two trains with a capacity of 7.8 mtpa.
