Venture Global LNG said Tuesday its Calcasieu Pass export project in Louisiana received the first two liquefaction trains from Italy.
Baker Hughes shipped the two 0.6 mtpa modular units to the US from its manufacturing facility in Avenza.
The delivery of the factory-fabricated midscale units comes less than 15 months after the project’s final investment decision and represents “not only a major project milestone but also a step-change in LNG construction,” Venture Global said.
Furthermore, the shipment arrived more than two months ahead of the contractual delivery date, the US firm said.
The first and second of the project’s eighteen identical trains will now be connected to their respective Chart-supplied brazed aluminum heat exchangers, eight of which are already installed on site.
The Calcasieu Pass project will have about 10 mtpa capacity but Venture Global plans to build two more projects for a total capacity of 50 mtpa.
Additionally, Venture Global aims to have identical trains for its planned 20 mtpa Plaquemines LNG project in Louisiana.
This project includes up to thirty six 0.626 MTPA liquefaction trains, configured in eighteen blocks, four tanks and three jetties.
The company’s third project Delta LNG, also planned in Louisiana in Plaquemines Parish, will also have a 20 MTPA capacity.
