Wartsila to maintain Thenamaris LNG carrier duo

Finland-based Wartsila secured a deal to maintain two 174,000-cbm LNG carriers owned by Greece’s Thenamaris.

The five-year optimised maintenance agreement covers the main engines for two newbuild LNG carriers, namely Cool Discoverer and Cool Racer.

Warstila says the object of the deal is to ensure “certainty of operations with budgeted maintenance costs.”

Under the contract terms, Wartsila will enable remote support with condition monitoring systems including its digital predictive maintenance product.

To remind, South Kore’s Hyundai Heavy delivered the first carrier Cool Discoverer in September while the second will join the Thenamaris fleet in February next year.

Both of the newbuilds feature two WinGD XDF engines and GTT’s Mark III Flex containment system.
